*Peatix Live is currently a limited service and is only available to organizers hosting paid events in Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia. If you cannot find "Peatix Live" as a streaming method option on your event creation > online setting page, please click here and contact us.

If you are unable to stream Peatix Live, please first check if you are able to "start" the stream.

If you have not started streaming

Follow the steps below to check the streaming environment and settings.

1.Check the "Server URL" and "Stream key”

Check "Server URL" and "Stream key" in the "Set up your stream" section of the "Broadcast" event page, and check that you have entered them correctly in the settings screen of the streaming software you are using.

*All Peatix Live events share the same 'Server URL' (rtmp://live2stream.peatix.com/live2), while the 'Stream key' is unique for each event.

<How to check>

OBS Studio:

Select " Stream" on the settings screen for the created streaming, and the server URL and stream key will be displayed.

Stream Yard:

Click on the three-point button for the streaming you created in "Destinations" and select "Edit" to display the server URL and stream key.

2.Check if the stream has been exited on the streaming software

If the stream is exited on the streaming software, it will not be reflected in Peatix Live. Please check if the stream has been exited on the streaming software.

3.Check Stream Start Timing

Ensure your stream begins within the allowed streaming time for your Peatix Live event.

Streaming cannot be initiated after the Peatix Live event's end time. One hour after the event end time, disconnection from Peatix Live servers occurs, preventing further streaming.

If exceeded, please create a new event.

*If you have been able to start streaming, but the streaming status is unstable or has stopped, please refer to "If you have been able to start streaming".

If you are still unable to start streaming after checking all of the above items 1-3, please report the problem to Peatix.

If you have been able to start streaming

If the streaming status is unstable or has stopped even though the streaming has been started, check the streaming environment and settings according to the following procedures.

1.Check the streaming environment

Please check that your PC and internet connection meet the following terms.

PC

Operating system

  • Latest version of Windows OS: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge
  • Latest version of mac OS: Safari, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge

PC specs

  • At least 8GB of RAM
  • Processor capable of encoding h.264 in real-time

*We recommend a device released in the last 5 years.

Streaming software

Download the latest version of your broadcasting software choice. Here are the links to the official websites of two major streaming software:

Internet connection

Make sure to check that the upload speed of your internet connection meets the required speed for streaming. For Peatix Live, the upload bandwidth should at least be 16Mbps, though we would recommend 25Mbps or faster.

Internet connection speeds may decrease due to congestion depending on days of the week, times of the day, and in areas with high user volumes.

To determine your internet speed, you can run a speed test here

*The test immediately starts upon accessing the page, but the speed being measured is the download speed. To check the upload speed, check the number measured after the download speed.

2.Prepare the environment for streaming

If you have checked your stream environment and found no problems, please try the following.

  • If a wired connection is available, use a wired LAN.
  • If you are using shared Wi-Fi, turn off the Wi-Fi of other devices.
  • Close all applications except the streaming software and the viewing browser.
  • Close all tabs except for the viewing browser.
  • Clear the browser's cache(history) and cookies.
  • Reload (restart) the streaming software and the browser.
  • Log out and restart the device.
  • Try using a different browser or device.

3.Check the settings for streaming values

Review the recommended values for each item in the "Recommended Streaming settings" section of the "Broadcast" event page, and check that you have entered the values correctly in your streaming software settings.

<How to check>

OBS Studio:

Select "Output" in the settings screen. Select " Advanced" under "Output Mode" to check the values entered for each item.

Stream Yard:

Select "General" in the settings screen to check the Video size set in "Broadcast quality".

Consider reducing Bitrate and video quality, even if your upload speed meets our recommendations. Your overall streaming environment may perform optimally with lower settings.

(*Prior to making any adjustments, please ensure to stop streaming from your streaming software, and then restart it after the changes.)

4. Stream Exclusively from One Source

Ensure that you're not streaming from multiple sources simultaneously using the same 'Stream key.' Your live stream should originate from a single streaming software or device.

*One hour after the event end time, disconnection from Peatix Live servers occurs, preventing further streaming. If exceeded, please create a new event.

Only if the problem cannot be resolved after checking the settings according to the above, please report it using the form below.
