We’ve interviewed many event organizers about how they attract attendees, and one of the most common responses is that improving the event page has the most direct impact on results.
Based on our research, this article will explain key strategies for creating an event page that directly drives attendance.
Start by researching event keywords
If you’re creating an event page for the first time, don’t jump straight into it. First, search for pages of events with similar themes to get inspiration and ideas.
On Peatix, selecting a “category” when creating your event page ensures it appears in relevant search results. Browse currently listed events and identify keywords that might work for your own.
The Three Key Elements: Event Title, Cover Image, and Event Details
1. Create a compelling, easy-to-understand event title
In Peatix search results and on social media, only the event title and cover image are displayed. To get users to click and read more, your title must clearly and attractively convey what the event is about.
Key tips:
Highlight something surprising or unique
Use emotionally engaging language
Include numbers for impact
Other tips:
For hybrid events, include “[In-person option available]” in the title
You can edit the page after it’s published—update the title as the event nears with phrases like “[Only X days left]” or “[Only X tickets remaining]” to drive urgency
2. Design a cover image that grabs attention
Just like the event title, your cover image is the visual “face” of your event. Whether someone reads further often depends on whether the image grabs their attention.
Key tips:
Include a catchy slogan or tagline
Use high-resolution images
Keep font and design style consistent
Other tips:
Recommended size: 920×450 pixels; formats: JPG, PNG, or GIF
Combined total size of all images must be under 5MB
3. Nail the opening lines of your event details
On Peatix, only the beginning of your event description is shown at first—the rest appears after clicking “Read more.” Make sure the first few lines are engaging.
Key tips:
Since details like time and location are shown on the right side, focus the beginning of the text on what attendees will gain and who the event is for.
Additional Tips for Crafting an Effective Event Page
Use photos or videos to help attendees visualize the experience
If you’ve hosted this event before, or have reference photos/videos from similar ones, include them. Visuals make it much easier for potential attendees to picture themselves there—boosting orders.
Even if speaker photos are in the cover image, add them again in the event details with a full profile.
Make your text scannable
Use headers to break up content—they appear slightly larger than body text and help organize the page. You can also use red text for emphasis, but sparingly, to avoid hurting readability.
Include useful links
You can insert hyperlinks in the “Event Details” section, but pasting the URL alone doesn’t make it clickable. See the help page for correct link formatting.
Encourage visitors to follow your group
A follow button appears at the bottom of your event page. Encourage visitors with a line like, “Want to hear about future events? Click the follow button at the bottom of this page.”
Check mobile layout
Event descriptions can get long, and may feel overwhelming on a small screen. If you build your page on a desktop, always preview it on a phone to ensure readability.
Other Peatix Features to Boost Attendance
Use your group page to build trust
Many potential attendees check the group page to learn more about the organizer. If it lacks detail, people may hesitate to place an order.
Before creating your event page, review your group page and update it as needed.
Checkpoints:
Is a cover image set along with an icon?
Does the group introduction explain your mission or community focus?
Are links to your website or social media included?
Don’t skip subcategory settings
You can choose one main category and up to five subcategories. While optional, using all five subcategories improves your visibility.
Give clear ticket names and adjust sale periods
If you offer multiple ticket types, clearly distinguish them in the names. Since many people place last-minute orders, extend ticket sales until just before or even after the event starts (for online events).
Send reminder messages
Peatix automatically sends a reminder via push notification and email 24 hours before the event. You can boost effectiveness by writing and sending your own custom message too.
Final Check: Have someone else review your page
Before launching, ask a third party to check for typos, missing info, or unclear sections. This final review helps ensure your page is trustworthy and easy to understand—maximizing attendee confidence.
